Each submission will compete in a single category (Doctoral, Master&#8217;s, Undergraduate) and will be evaluated according to the following criteria:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relevance of the investigated problem<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relevance of the obtained results<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advancement in the state of the art in HCI<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Methodological rigor and ethical responsibility<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originality (theme and solution)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research contributions (scientific, technical, social)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adherence to this call<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award is a relevant recognition for theses, dissertations, and undergraduate projects at the national level in HCI. Each submission must mandatorily include the following documents (1, 2, and 3), in PDF format:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Article:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The text must follow the writing <a href=\"https:\/\/ihc.sbc.org.br\/2025\/index.php\/en\/full-paper-tracks\/\">instructions<\/a> and use the same template adopted for the full paper tracks. The text focuses on presenting the entire research conducted during the Master&#8217;s, Doctoral, or undergraduate project. Therefore, the document should not contain only partial results, but rather a summarized and critical overview of the entire project. The text must be original, i.e., prepared specifically for the competition, explicitly presenting the following elements and sections:<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Title and identification: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Title of the defended research and authorship (student and advisor(s)) indicating the institution where the work was defended; the title may differ from the defended research if an article has already been published with the same title.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Research problem:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Contextualization and description of the problem investigated in the thesis, dissertation, or scientific initiation\/capstone project.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Produced solution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Solution (conceptual, methodological, technical, etc.) for the stated research problem.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Method:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Explanation and justification of the method(s) adopted for conducting the research.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Results and discussion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Synthesis of the obtained results, their implications (for theory and practice), relationships with existing literature, etc.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Contributions to the HCI field<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Defense of the originality, impact, contributions (methodological, state of the art, theoretical, technical) of the research to the knowledge in HCI, including research products and byproducts (e.g., articles, patents, software registrations, artifacts, technical reports, etc.).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Ethical considerations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Explanation and justification of how the ethical aspects of the research were considered. It is not limited to mentioning approval by a Research Ethics Committee (where applicable), and covers data collection, treatment, and availability, care regarding possible impacts arising from the research and its conduct, concern for transparency and auditability of results, dissemination and use of research products, etc.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Conclusion: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outline of the main conclusions arising from the research, its limitations, threats to validity, further developments of the research, enabling future work, etc.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Full text<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the defended thesis, dissertation, or undergraduate project. The full text will essentially serve as a reference source for the research results and details reported in the article.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Proof of approval<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Scanned copy of the diploma or document (e.g., defense certificate\/record) proving the defense and approval of the work by the evaluation committee.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The article (Item 1) must defend the topic&#8217;s relevance, results, and the main research challenges, independently of the full text. The originality and robustness of the method must be evidenced in the article text, as well as the ethical aspects of the research.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where applicable, also indicate the research byproducts (e.g., patents, registered software, public domain\/free software), published or accepted articles, outreach videos, as well as any other elements that help justify the research being considered one of the best in the country in the HCI field.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/ihc.sbc.org.br\/2025\/index.php\/chamadas\/#:~:text=C%C3%B3digo%20de%20Conduta%20para%20Autores%20em%20Publica%C3%A7%C3%B5es%20da%20S%20B%20C\">SBC Code of Conduct for Authors in Publications<\/a> must be followed in submissions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Questions can be sent directly to the Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award coordination.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d8d60e6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d8d60e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Selection Process<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e50e22f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e50e22f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each submission will be evaluated by at least 3 (three) professionals with a doctorate working in the HCI field, who will assess the research based on the criteria indicated at the beginning of the call. Submissions will go through an elimination phase and a classification phase conducted by a Selection Committee composed of 3 (three) individuals selected by the coordination of this competition.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Elimination phase:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The committee will discuss the evaluation results to select the accepted articles. A maximum of 3 (three) articles will be selected in each category (Doctoral, Master&#8217;s, Undergraduate). Depending on the review results, the committee reserves the right not to select any article in this competition phase. Articles approved in the elimination phase will be published in the main proceedings of the Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computing Systems.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Classification phase: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The selected articles will be presented in an exclusive session at the Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computing Systems (IHC 2025). In this phase, the Selection Committee will also consider the quality of the presentation and the answers to the committee&#8217;s questions to determine the ranking of the research.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration and presentation of the article at the event by the student responsible for the work are mandatory for classification in this phase and for the publication of the article in the proceedings. Accepted articles will be published in the event proceedings. Presentations by advisors will not be accepted to ensure the fairness and equity of the competition. The publication of the work in the proceedings is also conditioned on the student&#8217;s presentation at the event.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All research presented in the classification phase will receive Finalist certificates for the Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award in their respective categories (Doctoral, Master&#8217;s, Undergraduate).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the presentations, the Selection Committee will meet and define the best doctoral thesis, the best master&#8217;s dissertation, and the best undergraduate project in HCI, which will receive award certificates.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to awarding the best research, the Selection Committee may grant Honorable Mentions to research that has stood out in some aspect, such as originality, scientific and technological challenges faced, theoretical and methodological rigor, or social responsibility and impact.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The awards will be presented during IHC 2025. The awarded research will be listed on the CEIHC page with a link to their respective articles. The competition will grant the Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award for Theses, Dissertations, and Undergraduate Projects for submissions in each category. Each submission will compete in a single category (Doctoral, Master&#8217;s, Undergraduate) and will be evaluated according to the following criteria: Relevance of the investigated problem Relevance of the obtained results Advancement in the state of the art in HCI Methodological rigor and ethical responsibility Originality (theme and solution) Research contributions (scientific, technical, social) Adherence to this call The Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award is a relevant recognition for theses, dissertations, and undergraduate projects at the national level in HCI. Participating in the competition is a way to present relevant contributions to the Brazilian HCI community and to collaborate with advancing the field in the country. Submission Instructions Submissions must be made through the JEMS 3 system. Each submission must mandatorily include the following documents (1, 2, and 3), in PDF format: Article: The text must follow the writing instructions and use the same template adopted for the full paper tracks. The text focuses on presenting the entire research conducted during the Master&#8217;s, Doctoral, or undergraduate project. Therefore, the document should not contain only partial results, but rather a summarized and critical overview of the entire project. The text must be original, i.e., prepared specifically for the competition, explicitly presenting the following elements and sections: Title and identification: Title of the defended research and authorship (student and advisor(s)) indicating the institution where the work was defended; the title may differ from the defended research if an article has already been published with the same title. Research problem: Contextualization and description of the problem investigated in the thesis, dissertation, or scientific initiation\/capstone project. Produced solution: Solution (conceptual, methodological, technical, etc.) for the stated research problem. Method: Explanation and justification of the method(s) adopted for conducting the research. Results and discussion: Synthesis of the obtained results, their implications (for theory and practice), relationships with existing literature, etc. Contributions to the HCI field: Defense of the originality, impact, contributions (methodological, state of the art, theoretical, technical) of the research to the knowledge in HCI, including research products and byproducts (e.g., articles, patents, software registrations, artifacts, technical reports, etc.). Ethical considerations: Explanation and justification of how the ethical aspects of the research were considered. It is not limited to mentioning approval by a Research Ethics Committee (where applicable), and covers data collection, treatment, and availability, care regarding possible impacts arising from the research and its conduct, concern for transparency and auditability of results, dissemination and use of research products, etc. Conclusion: Outline of the main conclusions arising from the research, its limitations, threats to validity, further developments of the research, enabling future work, etc. Full text of the defended thesis, dissertation, or undergraduate project. The full text will essentially serve as a reference source for the research results and details reported in the article. Proof of approval: Scanned copy of the diploma or document (e.g., defense certificate\/record) proving the defense and approval of the work by the evaluation committee. The article (Item 1) must defend the topic&#8217;s relevance, results, and the main research challenges, independently of the full text. The originality and robustness of the method must be evidenced in the article text, as well as the ethical aspects of the research. Where applicable, also indicate the research byproducts (e.g., patents, registered software, public domain\/free software), published or accepted articles, outreach videos, as well as any other elements that help justify the research being considered one of the best in the country in the HCI field. The SBC Code of Conduct for Authors in Publications must be followed in submissions. Questions can be sent directly to the Junia Coutinho Anacleto Award coordination. Selection Process Each submission will be evaluated by at least 3 (three) professionals with a doctorate working in the HCI field, who will assess the research based on the criteria indicated at the beginning of the call. Submissions will go through an elimination phase and a classification phase conducted by a Selection Committee composed of 3 (three) individuals selected by the coordination of this competition. Elimination phase: The committee will discuss the evaluation results to select the accepted articles. A maximum of 3 (three) articles will be selected in each category (Doctoral, Master&#8217;s, Undergraduate).
