Call for Papers

The Posters and Demonstrations track is an important forum within IHC’24, where members of academia and industry can present ongoing work (Posters) or demonstrate interactive computational systems (Demonstrations) that are relevant to the field of HCI and aligned with the event’s topics of interest.

The Posters session is intended for presentations and discussions of ongoing work in the early or intermediate stages, without consolidated results, but still relevant to the HCI field and its community.

The Demonstrations session is intended for the exhibition of various types of interactive computational systems, in development or completed, that are relevant to the HCI field, including but not limited to: presentation of new design solutions, new interaction styles, intelligent environments, solutions in the Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality, games, among others. In both sessions, submissions are welcome from authors seeking constructive contributions from active members of the HCI community in Brazil.

Submissons

Submissions must be anonymous, with a limit of 2 to 4 pages, excluding references, in the formatting indicated by the SBC template.  Authors should follow the instructions for anonymization. 

It is emphasized that studies involving human participants must adhere to recommendations regarding ethical aspects of research involving human beings.

Authors must follow the Code of Conduct for Authors in Brazilian Computing Society’s Publications.

Furthermore, authors are strongly encouraged to consult the SIGCHI Accessibility Guide for Authors and the guides available on the website of the Accessibility and Usability Center (NAU) at UNIRIO.

Changing the language or authors will not be permitted after submitting the article.

Authors must submit their work electronically, in PDF format, using the JEMS system in PDF format.

It is expected that submissions for Posters contain:

  • Clear and explicit definition of the contribution and originality of the work: What is the problem? How can your solution approach help? How does your approach relate to existing ones?
  • Focus on the contribution of your work rather than theoretical foundations, including only sufficient theoretical background to make clear how your work differs from existing research.

 

For Demonstrations, in addition to the items listed above, works must include:

  • Description of the system and its scientific and/or technological contribution, including social impacts and Human-Computer Interaction;
  • In a separate document (submitted using the JEMS system), describe operational information for the demonstration, such as necessary space, devices that authors intend to bring for the demonstration, interaction with the public, etc.

Works submitted to the Posters and Demonstrations track may be selected based on the significance of the problem or the originality of the solution approach.

Review Process

Submissions will be reviewed by at least two members of the IHC’ 24 program committee. In case of disparity and inconsistency between reviews, a third evaluation will be requested. If the submission is accepted, the authors must consider the review comments to prepare the final version of the article.

Presentation and Publication

Accepted papers will be published in the extended proceedings of IHC’24, indexed in SBC OpenLib. At least one of the authors must be registered for the event and present the approved work in a collective and interactive exhibition. Publication is also contingent upon in-person presentation during the event. 

Information about procedures, recommendations, and available resources at the event will be forwarded later.
