How to get to Diamantina

Diamantina is approximately 300 km from Belo Horizonte, in the north of the state of Minas Gerais. The nearest large airport is Confins International Airport (CNF), about 275 km from Diamantina.

From Belo Horizonte or Confins Airport, the most practical way to get to Diamantina is by car, taking the BR 040  highway and passing through Sete Lagoas. A route option after passing through Sete Lagoas is to take the path that passes through Cordisburgo (MG), the city of Guimarães Rosa. The journey by car lasts about 4 hours (including a stop for a coffee with cheese bread).

Another option to go from Belo Horizonte to Diamantina is by bus. The average travel time by bus is 5.5 hours. The companies that serve this stretch are Viação Pássado Verde and Gontijo, which offer schedule options varying according to the day of the week. Gontijo has buses departing from other cities/states besides Belo Horizonte.

There is also the option of road transport from Belo Horizonte to Diamantina, exclusively for IHC 2022 participants, through a chartered vehicle, on demand. The company offering this service is Colmeia Turismo, the partner travel agency of the IHC 2022. Interested people should contact us at (31) 2551-4225/ 3019-4225.
